The Academy for the Arts provides youth with cultural exploration, instruction and performance opportunities in Afrikan Dance and Percussion, Step, Photography and audio- Video Production.  The Alkebu- lan Village Eastown Recording studio and our instructors, experienced music industry professionals, expose our students to the field of audio and video production as they learn to record and edit their own performances and compositions. Building Positive Leaders Building Positive Leaders provides youth in grades K-12 with educational programs after school and during the summer.  Activities include skill assessment, homework assistance, tutoring, computer lab, prevention education, leadership development, conflict resolution and violence prevention.  The Building Positive Leaders program is a Michigan Department of Community Health Licensed Substance Abuse Prevention Program. Y.A.P. stands for Youth Assistance Program.  It is a diversion program that has been put in place by the Wayne County Juvenile System to give youth a second chance.  These youth have made some decisions in their lives that have led them out of the classroom and into the courtroom.  Instead of incarceration, they are offered the opportunity to attend a ninety day program.  This program offers instruction in anger management, conflict resolution, sex education, substance abuse education, life skills, tutoring, individual and group counseling, random drug screening and recreation.  Completing this program will allow all negative charges to be erased from a youth’s record.  All services provided to the Youth Assistance Program are held at Alkebu-lan Village.  We are an Afrikan Centered based organization that services a diverse population of youth in Detroit, Grosse Pointe, Hamtramck and Harper Woods. The Alkebu-do Institute Family Fitness Center features aerobic and weight training equipment, a mirrored aerobics/dance studio, aerobics and dance instruction for all ages with highly qualified trainers and instructors. Family Fitness Center Strengthening Families Youth Assistance Program Alkebu-lan Village is a state certified Supplemental Educational Service provider under No Child Left Behind.  Our tutorial program for eligible children is designed to assist the students with academic success by first stimulation a students desire to learn and keep learning. AVGTP offer options that will allow you to customize a program to your specific needs. You may utilize our program as a primary source for your substitute teaching needs or as a back-up to your existing program. AVGTP specializes in the placement of qualified teachers in  independent, private and charter schools. We actively recruit, screen, and interview candidates nationally and internationally. Our candidates are pre-screened and interviewed before they are presented to schools, and we strive to submit those candidate who are best-suited in philosophy, education, and experience for a particular school and position.
